Epic Policy Type & Status Mapping Reference

This section of Epic contains important policy configuration information that can assist with report mapping and Book of Business setup.

Policy Types

Use this area in Epic to view a detailed list of policy types and their descriptions.

Epic identifies Lines of Business (LOBs) using a 4-digit code, which may not always clearly indicate the associated policy type. This report is a helpful resource when mapping policy types or researching unknown LOB codes.

Navigation:
Configure > Policy > Types

Policy Status Codes

Policy Status Codes determine whether a policy is considered active, inactive, canceled, quoted, or otherwise classified within Epic.

When configuring your monthly Book of Business report, it is important to understand which status codes represent an In-Force policy.

To review your policy status codes:

Navigation:
Configure > Policy > Statuses

  1. Click Include Inactive in the upper-right corner.
  2. Export the list of policy status codes to PDF.
  3. Review and identify which status codes represent In-Force or active policies.
  4. Highlight or annotate the In-Force statuses for future reference.

Book of Business Reporting

When running your monthly Book of Business report, only include policy status codes that represent In-Force (active) policies.

Including inactive, canceled, expired, or other non-active statuses can result in inaccurate reporting and may impact data displayed in ProfitLens.
